This is my list of the most commonly asked for links to various programs and sites of interest.
It is by no means a definitive list. There are many more Sim Sites out there but these are the ones that people normally ask for in relation to programs and tutorials. Plus a few of my other favourites.

Programs

• - Winzip: Unzipping tool for your downloads
• - Works in a similar way to Simzip
• - SimZip: Just drag and drop for your downloads to be installed instantly.
• - Excellent tool for organising and deleting your downloads, neighbourhoods and families. It even allows you to skip the intro movie on start up of the Sims.
  *Note* Elisims is not currently compatible with Unleashed, they are working on an update though so keep your eyes peeled.
• - Has many interesting programs including Sim Categorizer so that you can change objects so that they are available downtown and also has some fun alternatives to the regular NPC's and many other wonderful programs.
• - Transmogrifier: The most popular program for cloning and creating your own objects. Look out for their easy to follow tutorial.


• For the following three programs you need to first be logged into
  official site.
  • SimShow - Maxis made program that lets you make and preview your own skin creations. Don't forget to download the tutorial as it takes you through the process step by step.
  • Sims Eraser - To help with installation problems. (See Technical section)
  • File Cop - An essential tool if you download a lot of skins.
    *Note* This only scans your skins and textures folders. It does not detect bad objects.
• - essential site listing of a range of wonderful fan created programs to add new dimensions to your game and to help in the creation of Sim objects and skins.

• Ophelia Sims - Tutorials on objects, paintings and viewpoint 3-D.

No Winzip

If you really cannot get the hang of using Winzip here is my list of sites that do not require an unzipping tool. Most work by self extraction - you just double click on the downloaded icon and it installs itself into the correct folder.
• - The original and the best.
• - Popular Site for Downloads and Help
• - Has a whole range of excellent Objects, Skins, Animals, Houses and more that come in easy to install .exe files.
• - (PAY): Uses 'File Manager' to automatically unzip and install into your game.
• - No longer updating but contains Houses that are self installing
• - Contains Skins, Objects, and glass block windows. Also has an excellent help file for speeding up your computer and the HD&SV&SU Door and Window fixer which can also identify certain 'bad' object files. *Note* Read the instructions thoroughly.
• Diary of a Sim - Extensive links to various objects, skins and other goodies.

Hacked Objects

A hacked object is just a normal object download that the creator has tweaked so that you get new interactions with previously static objects. Or maybe they have cloned for example the bench press and by tweaking the animations your sim can use dumbbells instead. If you follow the instructions given on the site or in the 'Read Me' file that comes with the download Zip you shouldn't experience any problems. Hacked objects are not bad downloads with hidden viruses and used properly can enhance the Sim gaming experience.

This is my list of sites, there are more out there but these are the ones that I have downloaded and used objects in my game without any problems. Some sites have a lot of hacked objects and some only have one or two but they are all great sites.

• - an excellent and very popular site that has the expresso machine that maxes out your sim's moods, and it also has the friendship painting plus lots of other great downloads.
• - lot's of excellent objects on this site, including the computer that allows you to change the career of your sim and can generate extra money for the times when money is tight.
• - another great site which has the famous magic cake and rejuvination booths for both your Sims and their pets.
• - Simwardrobe: here it is again, another great site for objects of death, like the fire bombs. Plus lots of other goodies including replacements for your NPC's
• - If you feel the game needs more realism then get your sims some cigerettes that they can really smoke.
• - need more money, well don't we all? Get the sims money tree here. Who said that it doesn't grow on trees? ;)
• Cheapfrills - excellent site that has some hilarious downloads.
• Candle Light Sims - This site has the evening rain and morning rain fountains that when drunk from can make the sim child act like an adult and enable them to use the adult only objects. It also lets them hire a cab to go downtown.
  *Note* You must also put a fountain in the downtown lot that you want your Sim child to visit so that they can drink it and can then order the taxi back home again.
• Ophelia Sims - Not a hacked object site but it does have the poison ivy download that kills you sims, if you should wish to dispose of them quietly

Other Great Sites

Some more sites where the quality of downloads is particularly good.

- Simlish Sim's site with an ever growing collection of floors and walls. Also join in the Blinkie craze and download one of her original Sim Blinkies.

Community Boards

Here are some places where helpful Sim folk hang out, and are always willing to give you a help hand or just have some fun.
• .com. Always the number one spot for Sims related news. You can get news of bug fixes and patches and new games from Maxis and EA. You'll hear it here first.
